The LVM office in Toronto was formerly John Emery Geotechnical Engineering Limited (JEGEL) from 1986 until December 2008 when it was acquired by Dessau. Michael MacKay, M.Eng., P.Eng., is Principal Engineer and General Manager of the LVM Inc. Greater Toronto Operations. Mike has nearly 35 years experience in geotechnical, pavement and construction materials engineering, inspection and testing at airport facilities throughout Ontario, across Canada and internationally.
The LVM GTA (formerly JEGEL) pavement engineering team developed and implemented the MicroPAVER Pavement Management System currently used at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority’s Toronto – Pearson International Airport TPIA) and has completed all of the associated pavement condition survey updates and reporting for this system since its implementation in 2002. Our current assignment continues through to the end of the 2012 and includes pavement condition inspections and MicroPAVER database updating. LVM Inc. also developed the Bridge Management System at TPIA. Specialized field testing equipment includes a Dynatest 8081 High-Capacity Falling Weight Deflectometer which is used for pavement structural condition evaluation, including ACN/PCN determinations for airside pavements. The LVM GTA main laboratory is fully-certified by the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL) for testing of soils, rock, aggregates, concrete and asphalt materials.
LVM GTA has most recently completed pavement evaluations and design and rehabilitation recommendations for airside and groundside pavements at Gore Bay-Manitoulin Airport, Kapuskasing Airport, Collingwood Airport, Waterloo International Airport and Toronto – Pearson International Airport. Other significant airport pavement evaluation projects include John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, Thompson (MB) Airport, Thunder Bay International Airport, Ottawa McDonald-Cartier International Airport, as well as numerous Department of National Defence airfields across Canada. LVM’s office in Boucherville (PQ) also offers state-of-the art airport pavement engineering and pavement management systems implementation and ongoing technical support for the Aéroports de Montréal facilities at Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport and Mirabel Airport and other airports across Quebec, including most recently Kuujjuaq Airport in northern Quebec. |
