                              As the senior advocate of airport owner and operator organizations in Canada, the Airport Management Council of Ontario (AMCO) has evolved into a strong provincial organization committed to the sustainability of airports nationally. Incorporated in 1985, AMCO represents the interests of owners and operators of airports in the province of Ontario whose development and operation are not under the direct control of the federal or provincial governments; and, it promotes the safe and efficient operation of these airports. Others associated with this sector of Ontario’s transportation system, such as Transport Canada, Nav Canada, educational facilities and some of Canada’s most innovative and experienced business men and women, are members.

                              WHAT DOES THIS MEANS FOR YOU?

                              IT MEANS AN EXPERIENCED AND INNOVATIVE NETWORK
                              •  AMCO recognizes that its greatest strength lies in its membership. Accordingly, it supports and represents airports of various sizes, ownership, organizational structures and economic health; and, businesses and educational facilities that work to enhance airport operations and sustainability;

                              • Members are known for their commitment to safety; to creating and implementing sustainable and due diligence strategies; and, to adherence to best practices. Many of them mentor those who are new to the industry. The Member Directory, published annually in October and available to members only, puts you in touch with airport personnel as well as association, business and government contacts;

                              • Letters from AMCO’s president, designed to keep members informed, arrive on a timely basis;

                              • AMCO member conference calls and regional meetings are led by qualified industry representatives. These calls and meetings provide a convenient, inexpensive way to stay current on airport issues, improve operational efficiency and put “due diligence” into safety;

                              • AMCO recognizes the need for a national process of consultation and communication regarding the legislative, training, social, environmental, and economic framework within which the airport industry operates. The e-zine, The Airport Environment and You published by AMCO provides one method of achieving this. Only members are invited to advertise in this important industry publication;

                              • AMCO’s annual convention and trade show provides networking and business development opportunities, and showcases the latest technology; and;

                              • In addition to industry news and information, the AMCO website will display your job postings, equipment you have for sale, or your need for a piece of equipment, to an unlimited number of potential applicants.

                              IT MEANS A UNIFIED VOICE
                              • AMCO monitors developments within the airport industry; communicates this information to you; lobbies the federal and provincial governments and Nav Canada on issues; and, takes effective action when required;

                              • Projects and studies are initiated as required. In 2006, AMCO oversaw the completion of the Study of Municipal Airports in Ontario. One result was the creation of the Ontario Transportation Minister’s Air Advisory Panel of which AMCO is a member. This panel oversaw the 2008 Airfield Pavement Condition Survey for Municipal Airports. The results of this survey were released at the 2008 AMCO convention and will provide valuable information for the panel’s work in the future. The goal is to create an on-going program to support the aging infrastructure of Ontario’s airport sector;

                              • AMCO has a seat on the Nav Canada Advisory Committee and participates in the Canadian Aviation Regulation Advisory Council (CARAC) process; and,
                              • As a follow up to the 2005 convention in Waterloo, AMCO has been facilitating a series of conference calls with national, provincial and territorial airport associations and representatives; and, an annual luncheon during each year’s convention. This forum provides an opportunity to identify current issues, challenges and successes from all regions of the country. During 2009, AMCO will work with these leaders to formalize their unified voice regarding key initiatives.

                              IT MEANS PROMOTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

                              IT MEANS ON SITE TRAINING TO MEET YOUR BUDGET

                              In 2006, web based occupational health and safety training was introduced. The cost is a fraction of the budget needed to send employees off site for training. Today, the platform offers courses to help you train your staff in safety and medical procedures, airside vehicle operations, fire safety, and many more. Visit the platform today for a full list of all our courses.

                              AND, IT MEANS DISCOUNTS
